Riga will be the venue of the international conference eCom21 for the second time already and it is expected to gather over 300 participants from the EU, CIS and other regions of the world.

One of the main subjects of the forum will be the discussion of theory and practice of the promising trends of e-commerce related to online games and the theory of the probability area – gaming, gambling and forex.

Apart from corporate participants representing the e-commerce sphere, their participation in eCom 21 has already been declared by representatives of the regulatory bodies of popular European territories whose jurisdictions are often used for the registration and formation of organisational structures for conducting business on the Internet.

Maltese representatives – the Malta Financial Services Authority and Malta Lotteries and Gambling Authority – are expected to make reports at the conference. As well as regulators from the British Overseas Territories – the Isle of Man and the Island of Alderney – the Isle of Man Gambling Regulatory Commission and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. The Latvian Inspectorate on Supervision over Lotteries and Gambling has also confirmed its participation.

Representatives of official regulators will tell the conference participants about the current situation and tendencies in licensing and legislation development regarding online gambling and related areas.

Apart from delegates from public authorities, leading experts and managers of global law and audit companies, such as Clifford Chance, Delloite, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Holman Fenwick Willian and others, will be among the eCom21 speakers.

Thus, the Deloitte spokesperson will have a report on business taxation aspects regarding e-commerce in Luxembourg and the possibilities of efficient tax structuring, Pricewaterhouse Coopers will talk about changes in the European Union taxation environment, and the manager of the Swiss office of the international law company Holman Fenwick Willian Switzerland – about nuances of international commerce regulation at the epoch of global technologies.

In his turn, a speaker from the British company Global Betting & Gambling Consultants (Isle of Man) will raise the subject of the evolution of online gambling taxation, including the current day and tomorrow’s prospects.

Thus, the conference participants will have a full picture in the field of regulation, taxation and legal framework, as well as will be able to participate in discussions with professionals of the highest level.

As the Head of the Organisation Committee of the conference, First Vice-president of Rietumu Bank Ruslan Stecyuk noted, “We highly value the coming participation in eCom21 events of sought-after and authoritative specialists of such high rank. This certifies the interest in the conference and the subjects offered for its agenda. Taxation and the juridical base of the Internet business are a separate world where it is important to be familiar with the environment and to adapt to changes taking place there to have prospects for future business development. Due to the excellent composition of the speakers, the conference participants will be able to obtain fresh and topical first-hand information, and this makes the event exclusive in the best sense of the word.”

Dmitry Sinkovich, Head of EcommPay, which is the general partner at this conference notes, “We are witnesses and participants of the rapid development of the Internet business and the degree of this development is non-uniform in different territories. The path covered by the USA and a certain part of Europe means that they are still ahead of many other countries. But the advantage here lies in the fact that a business can now use the available successful experience of operation in the online environment – and we hope that eCom21 will help with this.”

Other topical issues of e-commerce will be touched upon at the eCom21 conference as well, such as: issues of online business structuring, new solutions in the IT field, prevention of fraud, flow and usage of electronic money, legal aspects, agreement practice, etc.
