On Thursday, the 21st of February, Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund made a significant contribution to the Centre of Emergency and Disaster Medicine by funding the purchase of multifunctional incubator to help transport premature children from the regions to medical centres and enable the provision of necessary medical assistance to on-the-way patients.
Nowadays the demand for such multifunctional incubators is rising due to the increase in the birth rate and the number of premature births in the Latvian regions. Thus, it is of an utmost importance to transport premature babies to the equipped medical centres in order to save their lives. For the sake of safe and timely transportation, the multifunctional incubators are irreplaceable.
The Centre of Emergency and Disaster Medicine has had only two incubators in its possession since 1995. In addition, due to financial constraints, the Centre could not afford purchasing the new incubators and now these incubators are already obsolete. As a result, some technical defects arise in the day-to-day practice. These defects make the use of the incubators very risky for the babies. Therefore, provision of the incubator, which is completely new, will significantly help to improve the situation.
“Rietumu Bank’s top priority is to sponsor the healthcare projects with a key focus on children’s healthcare. We fully understand that the best results in medicine can be achieved, when the competency is combined with achievements of modern technologies. For that reason we funded purchase of a new infant incubator for the Centre of Emergency and Disaster Medicine, as well as provision of three incubators to the Riga Stradina University”, said Inga Shina, the Chairman of the Rietumu Bank’s Charity Fund.
