Today the International School of Goaltending headed by Vladislav Tretiak and the Latvian national team’s goalkeeper Sergey Naumov starts classes at the Volvo ice arena in Riga. These classes will be attended by more than 50 young hockey-players from the Baltic Region, Russia, Spain, Germany, Canada and other countries. The event is traditionally organised with the support of Rietumu Bank.
This is the third Tretiak sport campus in Riga. Judging from previous experience, training led by the world hockey legend allows sportsmen, who are at the start of their career, to increase their level and technical skills and achieve much more impressive results over a short period. Thus, last year a Spanish participant of the Riga hockey campus Rodrigo Sacristan was recognised as a champion of his country.
“I like working with young and talented hockey-players who wish to become first-rate goalkeepers. It is especially pleasing when as a consequence of our training, boys achieve success. Big hockey, like any professional sport, is not easy work and it requires discipline and commitment from a player. But nothing can be compared to the joy that is derived from victory – this is a moment of real triumph, when all your efforts are rewarded. I sincerely hope that this year in Riga, that we will also succeed in helping future champions on their way to the peaks of sport,” says Vladislav Tretiak.
