Last weekend was marked by such a spectacular event as Riga 25th Cycling Marathon sponsored by Rietumu Bank. Professional cyclists, amateurs and enthusiasts took part in the Marathon.
Professional teams from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Belarus and Russia competed to win Riga Grand Prix, the annual Marathon’s traditional award. Out of 88 sportsmen, who took a 170 km distance, Normund Lasis from Dynatek Latvia breast the tape. The leader of our cycling team Rietumu Banka-Rīga Alexei Saramotin secured the 3rd place.
More than 1400 people took part in the Marathon this year: 170 families – in the family race, 109 children – in the children race and 1134 participants – in the public race. Kristaps Knops and Elena Dovgaljuk (among ladies) won the amateur 53.7 km race.
